Jo Dale Nelson
Jo Dale Nelson (69) of Santa Maria passed away on Sunday October 3rd after a very courageous four year battle with cancer. Jo Dale was born to Victor and Alleen Estelle in Texas. Growing up in various cities in Texas she was raised by her loving grandmother. She met and married Richard Nelson, a young US Marine and wed in 1958. Married life found her in Santa Anna, Ventura, Oxnard and lastly Santa Maria. Jo Dale and Richard raised six children, Kathy, Tracy, Wendy, Bill, Robin and Jody. She spent many years volunteering for school PTA, sporting teams and 4-H for her children. She enjoyed selling Tupperware and Avon to her friends. Jo Dale will always be remembered as a super fantastic mother and brave courageous soul.
Jo Dale is survived by Richard Nelson her husband of 52 years, daughters Kathy Thompson, Tracy Minor, Wendy Motley, Robin Anderson, Jody Tosti, son Bill Nelson along with 16 grandkids and 5 great grandchildren and her sister Kim. She is preceded in death by her parents and Sister Jerry. A celebration of life service will be held at the Santa Maria Cemetery on Friday October 8th at 2pm.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.

Dick and Bill,
Thinking of you both and so sorry to hear about the passing of Jo. Remembering many years of her support for Bill's involvement in Special Olympics and cycling and the love and caring she showed her family. She will be missed and remembered by all of our athletes and Special Olympic friends.

Jo, and her own brand of caring and love will be greatly missed. She brought a lot of light and happiness to many. when Ms Jo said it, you could believe it. I will always remember her telling me "A handshake and your word means more to me than a dozen signatures on a piece of paper any day!" Just one of the many words of wisdom I gathered from her over the years. I'll never forget you Ms Jo.
