John Leis Obituary

John Martin Leis, Jr.
December 22, 1963 - October 31, 2010
My brother John was a kind soul. He was a friend to everyone, and loved by many, especially in the church he was such a part of. At one point in his life, he considered becoming a priest, but another part of him longed to be married. Neither happened.
He was born in Los Angeles and was adopted by our loving parents at 9 months old. We lived in Glendale, CA until John was 9, then we moved to Santa Barbara. John graduated from San Marcos High School and UC Davis with honors. He lived for a short time in Lancaster, PA before coming back to Santa Barbara and ultimately living in Santa Maria.
John loved his family dearly. He took care of his nephew and God son, Justin, when it was time for me to return to work. He was also able to attend Justin's high school graduation this past June from our alma mater. John cared for our mother for 5 years while she lived with dementia, until we lost her 2 years ago. Thanks to him, she was able to live out her final days in the comfort of her own home.
In his younger years, John was an avid bowler, earning many awards. More recently, he enjoyed singing karaoke with his girlfriend of 7 years, Melissia, at a favorite joint in Arroyo Grande. He loved keeping in touch with friends and we could always count on receiving a funny, off-the-wall greeting card from him.
John leaves behind our father Jack, myself, brother-in-law Mike, nephew Justin, girlfriend Melissia, and many friends.
John, you are not alone, I am here with you, and though we grew apart, you're always in my heart ….
I'll be seeing you Zoinkerfiblets. Love always, your little seester, SisSqui. Meow.
'… deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.' Matthew 6:13
