Margarita Yanez Perez
Margarita Yanez Perez passed away on June 11th, 2011 at the age of 82. She was born in La Feria, Texas on February 22nd, 1929 to Hilario and Hilaria Yanez. She had five brothers and three sisters of which her only living brother is Miguel Yanez of Salinas, CA.
In 1959 Margarita, her husband Jesus and their 3 sons arrived in Guadalupe, CA and in 1963 a daughter was born. The Perez family established their roots here and became lifelong residents. Margarita was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in February 1966 in Santa Barbara, CA and later in life several family members would follow.
Margarita was a homemaker all of her life and worked for John Ingles in Santa Maria where she met lifelong friends. She devoted her life to family and her many pleasures in life were gardening, farm animals, crocheting and making the best tamales that were sold at El Sombrero Market in Guadalupe, later on she made them for all of her family and friends.
The Perez family lived on ranch after ranch but made their home on the Dario Ferrini Ranch on West Main Street in Guadalupe. Later on she made her home in Santa Maria where she rented from Silveira Properties on East Church Street until her death. She made many friends with her neighbors there. She also made many friends at the Nipomo Swap Meet, where you would find her on Saturdays selling household items and jewelry. Margarita was very giving and loved people. She will be missed and remembered by many, especially her spiritual family.
She is survived by her loving family: son Frank Perez and wife Kathy of Santa Maria; son Sam Perez and wife Cindy of Guadalupe; and daughter Yolanda Castillo of Santa Maria; as well as nine grandsons, two granddaughters and seveb great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Gabriel Perez in 1983, her husband Jesus Perez in 1995 and her oldest son Raymond Perez Sr. and great granddaughter Jazmyn Castillo in 2005.
The Perez family would like to thank Marian Home Care and Hospice for their gentle and loving care.
A memorial service will be held at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, located at 333 Hidden Pines Way in Santa Maria, on Saturday, June 18th 2011 at 1:00 P.M.
