Myron Strate Obituary
Myron L. Strate "M.L." age 86, passed away December 25, 2010 in Santa Maria, CA. He was born March 24, 1924 in McAlaster, Oklahoma to Roy Clifford and Oma Jewel Strate.
He served in the U.S.A.F in WWII. In 1945, M.L. met and married Mary Lou Harmon after only one week of dating. They moved to CA in 1946 and had 5 children. In 1959, they moved to the Santa Maria Valley where he became a general building contractor doing most of his work at VAFB. He retired after 40 years. He and Mary enjoyed traveling and lots of camping, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Santa Maria Contractors Association, the Santa Maria Elks and the Santa Maria 4-wheelers.
M.L. is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary, daughters Darlene Grimmett, Charlotte Payne and Mary Caldera (Tom) and son Duane Strate, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son Mark Strate in 1985 and Brother Roy Strate and Sister Glada Hernandez.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary.
A special thanks to the Dr's and nursing staff at Marian Hospital for all their care and consideration during our difficult time.

Randy and I will always remember the special story times with ML at the beach, around a beautiful campfire and stars all around. He never seemed to run out of stories! And we know that he, Dad and Mom shared a very special relationship. Now they are fishing together and watching over all of us, laughing as only the three of them could do, with that infectious laughter that made us all laugh and smile.
