Stan was a marvelous man - intelligent, witty, very patient and of great humor. Though it's been many decades since I took Stan's classes, the lessons I learned from him still make a difference in my life and work. Also, I will never be able to drive the road to VAFB at night in the fog without thinking of his stories about it!! My mother, Doris, worked with Stan at Hancock 20 years and always had kind words about him. Together, they fought for tenure and succeeded. They are both in the hands of God now. My prayers are with you all.

Anna and family;
I was saddened to hear of the loss of Stan. Tho I only knew him a short time he really touched my life. He always spoke of you in such a loving way and was so proud of all of you. The sparkle in his eyes and the love that shown on his face you could just feel the love he had for you.
I know there are no words that can comfort the hurt you are feeling right now, but just know that there are a lot of people praying for you in your time of need. He is in God's hands now and there is no better place to be. Just know he isn't hurting any longer.

Many years have gone by since we worked together at the Solvang Station. I have the fondest memories of those days.

Some people are unforgetable. You are one of them. I used my "crystal" knowledge throughout the years. Thanks for the education.

Anna, Stan & Michele,
We are thinking of you all. We always enjoyed visiting with Stan and listening to his storytelling. He was so welcoming and a kind Grandpa to all. We were entertained by him and his sense of humor. He always seemed to be enjoying life and sharing his experiences with others. The one thing that was very apparent is how proud he was of his family.

We hope you find some comfort knowing that he had such a positive influence on so many people and that he is greatly admired.

We are very sorry for your loss.

I remember like yesterday as a young Explorer meeting Deputy Otremba. Although seeming like yesterday it was 1969. Several years later I came to the Sheriff's Department and like a cornerstone of the Santa Maria Substation was Stan. I really enjoyed our talks. Later I worked with Stan as a fellow instructor at Allan Hancock.
Always with a story or an example of what to do, Stan was there. While the advisor of the Sheriff's Explorers he was always available to help. Today as a police administrator, and a criminal justice instructor I have told a few "Stan' stories. Stan you carried the torch to light the way for others to follow. There are many young persons today that were either directly or indirectly impacted by you. God bless you. My deepest sympathies to the Otremba family.

I will always remember Detective Otremba fondly from my days of being an Explorer Scout at the Sheriff's Office (1978-1982). Stan was one of those who would stop and talk to us, and took the time to be a mentor. When I went on to take classes at AHC and go thru the academy, I made it a point to take his classes, adopting him again as a mentor and teacher. Thank you, Mr. Otremba, for making a difference in at least 1 young person's life.

December 28, 2010

Dear Anna - I wish you and your family comfort and strength at this difficult time. Dr. Otremba was my instructor at Hancock for two wonderful years. He taught me so much and I always enjoyed his stories and sense of humor. It was great getting to see the two of you every now and again at the casino. Dr. Otremba has touched so many lives; I am certain his memory will live on forever.

Sincerely,
Michelle Huitron
