James Ballestero Obituary

Published by The Saratogian from May 31 to Jun. 1, 2017.
James (Jimmy) Ballestero SARATOGA SPRINGS - James (Jimmy) Ballestero passed away peacefully Sunday (May 28, 2017) in Glens Falls Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 89 and surrounded by his loving family. Born on Feb 7, 1928 in Middletown, NY, he was the son of the late Antonio and Francisca (Prada) Ballestero and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. Over 60 years ago, he and his brother founded and operated M&J Construction Company, where he had the privilege of working with his father, brothers and sons. After retiring from heavy construction, he had more time to enjoy his scrap metal passion. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and best friend, Inky. Jimmy also loved traveling in Mexico. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Antonio (Tony) and Ygancio (Inky) Ballestero. Survivors include his loving children, Jamie Ballestero of Ballston Spa; Deborah Brady (Keith) of Winnabow, NC; James “Jim” Ballestero of Saratoga Springs; Michael Ballestero (Linda) of Saratoga Springs; Antonio Ballestero (Tammy) of Ballston Spa and Rosemarie Ballestero of Yonkers, NY, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a brother, Manuel Ballestero. The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at the ICU in Glens Falls Hospital. Thank you also to Dr. Kufs and his staff, Dr. Daoui, Dr. Mahindu, and Dr. Hogan and the Rubin Dialysis Center of Saratoga Springs for their exceptional care. Jim’s family would like to thank David and Debbie Quinn and their sons for the time they spent and the care they gave to our father. A funeral service will be conducted at 10am Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the William Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Peters Cemetery, West Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4H Division, 50 W. High St., #1, Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com.

Tony
Sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with your dad on a couple of jobs. He was always a lot of fun to be around. I enjoyed watching him running the hoe. The jobs were always fun to go to.
