O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart!
O the bleeding drops been shed,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and now fled.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear Sir!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and tears shed.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen, tol'd and tears shed.

I remember many fun conversations with Pat at agility class, oyster roasts, and when grooming his crazy Bouviers. He sometimes made comments that were a bit blunt to say the least, but he was always honest to a fault and always made me laugh like crazy. There was no wondering where you stood with Pat, there was no "fluff" and that's a quality I always loved about him. He loved his Bouviers and he had a sunroom that held various fish and plants, and I could have spent a week in there listening to all his knowledge about it all! I will miss you Pat. Mary, you are a great friend and I am there for you. Stay strong.

pat,what a multi faceted,humorous individual! you were so very talanted.
although we didn't see you&mary as often as those first few years,you were never far from our thoughts,and conversations. just wish we knew you were sick,and that we could have said hello and goodbye one last time here on earth....and told you what a friend you and mary are lo these forty-odd years....did you remember that my grandfather married mary's moma and dad right here on wildewood? and, did you remember carrying that bucket of oats because mary and i were in the stable for eons? you put my horse trailer in working order,and messed with our boat...remember coming up on us when we had that burial at sea?
wow,and you and ida and mary,me,and laura sitting by the fire after an oyster roast ,you and ida playing guitars? mary can play ,too....so many more times,dont ever remember any to forget.....you are missed,yet you are not gone,you are in the trees ,the river, the ocean,the flowers,the air of wildeood and our hearts.....I see a ship on the horizon,her sails set ,as she slips silently out to sea .....maury and ida
