Carl: The Man Remembered, Thus NEVER Forgotten
Known for his quick smile, and a story for every occasion. Carl took life easy, which made for someone easy to be around. Carl's mind like a clear blue sky, had no boundaries. I don't know where Carl's spirit is, but I am pretty sure if he could send a message it would be, HAVE A GOOD TIME, ENJOY YOURSELF, LIFE IS WAY TOO SHORT.

I just heard the news this morning and I still can't believe it. Carl was always so high-spirited and full of vitality. Having him on our trivia team was an unfair advantage and he always kept us cracking up at his jokes and his stories, some of which were so amazing, I always wondered if he wasn't pulling my leg a little. He had so much wisdom and life experience, his avuncular advice and cheery outlook helped me when I was going through hard times. He would often call to check on me and give me obscure French medical textbooks. He was quirky and thoughtful and a really great friend, even though I didn't know him for as long as I would have liked. I only wish I could have read the novel he was always talking about writing. With all the late-night philosophical discussions we had, I don't think we ever got any closer to figuring out what souls are and where they go when you die. But I know wherever Carl is, it must be good. I'm going to miss him greatly.

I knew Carl for many, many years, first when he was a student during my early years in Savannah, when I taught at Armstrong, and then in the forty or so years since, as we moved in the same social circles.
He was an occasional guest at our local Mensa meetings and the Drinking Liberally Thursday political group; and a much more frequent guest at the Philo Cafe philosophical discussion group.
As a student I recognized that he was extremely well read. Over the years I realized that he was indeed one of the most widely read men I have ever met. At our meetings he was always prepared, always willing to share his ideas on the topic, and more than all this - he was entertaining with it as well.
His presence at Philo Cafe can never be filled, so perhaps we should take consolation that we were so lucky to have had him with us for the years that we did. He was truly one of a kind, generous, friendly and engaging to be with. We will never see his like again.

Carl was a friend and a mentor in Psychology to me. We met through the Wednesday Philosophy group. Carl was always willing to give great advice and was always there to talk if I ever needed any help. Carl always told me to live life for each day as if it were the last, and thats exactly how he lived it.

Carol, Howard & Marty:
It's hard to express the wonderful times spent with you guys at the beach house and the throng of friends that always flowed through both day and night. Carl was always a great "big brother" and made sure everyone felt welcome and part of the family. I know he will be missed by all. He was a real mench.

We knew Carl through our Sunday evening trivia games and the Thursday DL group. He was a great guy with a friendly handshake and broad smile for all. We loved to hear his many life stories. Looking for the positive at this sad time, one can truly say Carl lived life to the fullest. We will miss him.

To Carl's family.
I worked with Carl at Garvin Realty years ago and remember he always had a smile for everyone. We had many long discussions and he was easy to talk to. Always quick with good advice and a helping hand. He will be missed by all who knew him.
May God bless your family in this trying time.

Dear Marty, Carol, and Howard,
My deepest condolences to you. Just this past weekend I was at the 50th SHS Class of 1959 reunion and had hoped to see both Carl and Marty. This notice was a sad explanation for Carl's absence.
We had many happy conversations at 17th and Strand so very long ago. They made lasting impressions on me and I will be forever grateful for them.
