Samuel Meyer Dinerman - ATLANTA - Samuel Meyer Dinerman died Friday, May 14, 2010 following a courageous battle with Lymphoma. He was born June 23, 1920 to Leah and Harry Dinerman in Savannah. He spent his early years there with his five siblings. In 1944 Sam married Selma Levetan, they spent most of their life together in Atlanta where they worked and raised their family. A gifted athlete, Sam excelled in amateur boxing, winning championships in the southeast. Sam served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War as a Chief Photographer's Mate. Sam was a professional photographer, opening a studio in Savannah in his early years, and continued his career, ending with the Pentax Corporation , as a regional sales manager. Sam was predeceased by his beloved wife Selma and his grandson Eric Dinerman. He is survived by his children Marshall and Laura Dinerman, Alan and Elaine Dinerman of Atlanta and Lori and Alex Gholson of Philomath, OR, and his grandchildren, Michael and Kim Dinerman, Jennie and Alex Medeiros, Scott Dinerman and Liz Yeakle, Jessica and Scott Wiley all of Atlanta. Brett, Emily and Tyler Gholson of Philomath, OR, his four great-grandchildren Sophie, Max and Charlie Dinerman and Leah Medeiros. He is also survived by his sister Annie Drucker of New York City, his sister in law Esta Salby of Atlanta, numerous nieces and nephews and his dearest friend, Helen Spiers of Tybee Island. A graveside service will be held Sunday (TODAY) May 16, 2010 at Crest Lawn Memorial Park at 3pm. Rabbi Alvin Sugarman will officiate.
