Ruth Kemmerling Obituary

Ruth A. "Toots" Kemmerling, 93, of Conshohocken, formerly of Pine Grove, passed away peacefully Saturday at home.

Born in Pine Grove, Jan. 29, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mamie Krause Heberling.

Ruth was a lifetime member of Hetzel's UCC Church in Pine Grove and a charter member of the Hershey Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 599.

She was a house-parent from 1945 to 1956 at the Milton S. Hershey School, Hershey, and later worked for Gordon of Philadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. "Dutch" Kemmerling, in 1999; a son-in-law, Anthony Bertino; four sisters, Catherine Breidigan, Margaret Mease, Maeanna Orendo and Minerva Yeagley; and four brothers, Paul, Clarence, Clyde and William Heberling.

Surviving are a daughter, Alberta Bertino, Conshohocken; three grand daughters, Ruth Ann, wife of Charles Palmer, Bristow, Va., Carolyn Bertino, Phoenixville, and Christine Bertino, Conshohocken; two great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Danielle Palmer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Mary Lou Eckels officiating. Interment will follow in the Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove. The family will receive friends and relatives 10 a.m. until the time of services. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her memory to Hetzel's UCC Memorial Fund, 233 Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963.
