Jack Shade Obituary

Jack E. Shade Jr., 66, of Gratz, passed away Wednesday at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

Born Aug. 19, 1951, in Lykens, he was a son of the late Jack E. Sr. and Janice E. Kissinger Shade.

He was a 1969 graduate of Upper Dauphin High School.

He served in the Army Reserves.

Jack retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.

He was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz.

Jack enjoyed hunting and camping and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney L. Shade.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy L. Rothermel Shade, to whom he was married for 44 years; a daughter, Gwen M. Babski and her husband, Travis, Newport; a son, Ryan E. Shade and his wife, Kendra, Gratz; a grandson, Riley H. Babski, Newport; a granddaughter, Madison B. Shade, Gratz; a brother, Craig S. Shade and his wife, Sandra, Gratz; a sister-in-law, Jane Shade, Marysville; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Gregory Lindsey officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com.
