Betty Jubb

HAMPTON — Betty Barnhardt Jubb, 81, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her home in Hampton, of lung cancer.

She was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Charlotte, N.C., the daughter of the late Thomas M. and Ernestine (Lucas) Barnhardt Jr.

The widow of James N. Jubb, who died in 1993, she is survived by one son and his wife, James T. and Margaret Jubb of North Hampton; one daughter and her husband, Julia J. and Maurizio Iuretig of Scarborough, Maine; two granddaughters, Lindsay Anne Jubb and Jaime Elizabeth Jubb; two grandsons, Anthony Celio Iuretig and Peter James Iuretig; two brothers, Thomas M. Barnhardt III, and his wife, Pamela, of Charlotte, and Richard H. Barnhardt and his wife, Claire, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a brother-in-law, James C. Evans and his wife, Sheila, of Charlotte; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Neil Hulse of Castlethorpe, Brigg, U.K.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and the U.K.

She was predeceased by one sister, Alice Barnhardt Evans in 1989.

WE REMEMBER: She attended Charlotte schools and graduated in 1949 from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Va.

She married Mr. Jubb in Charlotte in 1956, and they moved to San Carlos, Calif., where they had a son in 1957. Following a move to Hartsdale, N.Y., they had a daughter in 1961.

The Jubb family moved to Hampton in 1964, where Mrs. Jubb lived for the past 45 years.

Mrs. Jubb and was a realtor associate with Yankee Trader Realtors before her retirement.

She was a volunteer in the Hampton schools and at Trinity Episcopal Church for many years, and was a member of Seacoast Art Association, Seacoast Realtors and Phi Beta Kappa.

Her hobbies were reading, painting, movies, gardening, working out and spending time with her family.

She will be remembered for her calm and caring disposition, positive spirit, sense of humor and the southern accent that she never lost.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Exeter Hospital, Home Instead Senior Care, Seacoast Visiting Nurses Association, Seacoast Hospice and the team of LNAs who cared for Mrs. Jubb in her home. They also would like to recognize and thank the multiple neighbors and friends who offered their support for the last several years.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be Wednesday, June 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Services will follow the visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
