Out of the blue I had a feeling since I have not seen Don at QFC that I checked this. I started out playing hockey in the 60'as a small kid, he came to me my hero and even wrote "DON WARD" on my hockey bag. I also played defense as he did, God bless you my hero, you make a impact in my life. I still have the org pic of him showed here!!

My prayers go out to the Ward family. Donnie was such a gentle giant. He made me feel so welcome when I moved to Seattle in 1977. I can close my eyes today and still see that warm and loving smile.

He was a gentle giant of a man.I knew him growing up as a Seattle Totem but got to know him personally during his softball years. He still had that menacing look because of his stature but he was a Teddy bear inside.I am sorry to learn of his death but will cherish those memories. My condolences to his family. He was the "salt of the earth".
