Lois and Francis have been family friends with my parents Gwen and Maury Meyers for over 60 or 65 years. Francis and my father used to car pool to Boeing from Maple Valley. Although my father died years ago, my mom Gwen still fondly talks of the good times they used to have when we all lived in Maple Valley.

I especially remember one time that Lois came over on Halloween evening in a costume that included a nylon stocking over her head. My mother couldn't guess who it was but she knew the voice was friendly. Finally it dawned on all of us that it was our good friend Lois and we laughed about it for a long time. Turns out that the laughs were on Lois, as she struggled to remove the very tight stocking. Her face was all pinched and squished, and as the stocking moved upwards, so did her lips and the nostrils on her nose. By then, she really was scary looking!

Their family was kind enough to watch our big dog Duffy when we went on vacation. They had a farm with chickens in Maple Valley. We we got back home, sadly, we heard that our dog had raided the chicken coop and destroyed all their eggs. I don't remember if they ever watched Duffy again!

On the other hand, as kids my brother Dick and I used to play with Willie and Marcia. We really had some great times in the good ol' days!

I also remember visiting the new house that they built and it had a popcorn ceiling with sparkles all over it. I thought it was the most beautiful ceiling I'd ever seen, and when our house was built over 40 years ago, I insisted on having the same thing. Although most of my ceiling is different now, there's a couple rooms that still have the same sparkly ceiling.

Lois, Francis and my mom Gwen still kept in touch with each other through all these years. And Lois will be missed very much, as she made such an impact on so very many people, including those of us in my family, too! Rest in peace, Lois!

I have sweet memories of Lois and Francis with my parents Harry and Gerry. My folks enjoyed their friendship and times together in Maple Valley. They are rejoicing together in heaven.

Lord, on your hand
I fall into a sleep,
you invite your friends to rest.
The hand carries me
to a new life,
gives an eternal peace, I stay in the light.
