Dolores Jenkins Obituary

Dolores "Laurie" Lucille JENKINS Laurie was born Aug. 22, 1929 in Muskegon, MI. She passed away peacefully May 11, 2011 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Jeremiah and her sister Carleen Uhley. Laurie graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1947. As a busy mom she worked as a bookkeeper and also a baker; as an avid bridge player, she also enjoyed painting, ceramics and gardening. Her fondness for travel included trips to Russia, Australia, South America and Europe; Mexico was a favorite destination in the winter. Laurie was loving, funny, upbeat and full of vitality. She is survived by her sister Leona Stahl and brother Robert Spain and her children: Daniel Jenkins (Maureen), Jonathan Jenkins (Andrea) and Jennifer Gonser (Gregg Peterson), and six grandchildren: Tom, Jessica, Danielle, Jordan, Dante and Jack. Any acquaintance quickly became a friend and she was beloved by all. A celebration of her life will take place at 2 pm on May 28, 2011. In lieu of flowers, remembrances suggested to: American Cancer Society Relay For Life or to Evergreen Hospice. Our loss is heaven's gain.
