Erin Newkirk Obituary
Erin Lee NEWKIRK Erin Lee Newkirk of Issaquah WA passed away on February 6, 2011, at the age of 21. She was born in Park Ridge, IL to her loving parents, Beth and James Newkirk. Erin graduated from Issaquah High School in 2007 and was currently enrolled at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. Beloved daughter of Beth and James, loving sister of Grant and the late Steven, adored granddaughter of Marilyn Miller and the late Sam Miller and William Newkirk and the late Mary Newkirk, cherished niece of many aunts and uncles, very special cousin and friend to many. She will be dearly missed. Service will be Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Bellevue, WA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to charities close to Erin's heart: Children's Oncology Services, Inc, 213 W. Dear Beth, Jim, and Grant,
All of us at AMG-Preferred Pediatrics were saddened to here about the loss of Erin for your family. We will always remember her as a spunky little kid. She grew into a beautiful young woman who left all too soon.

Mr. and Mrs. Newkirk,
I was flipping thru the Seattle Times and I saw your daughters picture in the obituary section randomly...she stood out from all the other pictures because of her young age. You have no idea how sad it makes me to see this picture. I have no idea who your daughter was but for some reason i was almost brought to tears in seeing such a young person with a ton of hopes and dreams and potential be taken away. Im a student at UW and have friends that go to CWU. Im not sure what else to say but i hope God blesses you and your entire family immensly!

Dear Beth, Jim, and Grant,
I will remember Erin and her many hours on the air with us as a DJ at 88.1 The 'Burg, CWU campus radio station. So glad to have known Erin, and so very sorry for this loss. May God comfort and strengthen you all in the days, weeks, and years to come.

I was able to come to the memorial service last Friday. How very sad and wonderful at the same time. I love this high school graduation picture of Erin, she was so lovely and that is how I will remember her!
Grant, you did a wonderful job speaking at the service-- how proud she would be of you! Your love for her will not die and through you and your family, she will be with us all always.
We keep you in our prayers daily though our hearts break each day.

When we were visiting in March Art and I got to talk with Erin,

Erin has constantly been my thoughts throughout this week, I am still experiencing disbelief over her passing. It saddens me greatly to think of how young she was and what a bright future she had. She was truly a beautiful girl both inside and out and and I only wish I had more time to get to know her better. We shared many smiles, laughter, and moments in high school; I remember sitting next to her in psychology class and working on a project with her. Her genuine enthusiasm and contagious smile made my early mornings so much brighter. May the Newkirk family please know that she will be greatly missed by many. My heart goes out to them and I hope that they will eventually find peace in her passing.

Erin,
Your smile and laugh could light up any room. I wish more than anything you were able to see just how much you were loved and cared for. I was beyond upset when I found out you were moving away because I knew the Jewish holidays would be completely boring without you. I remember when we put aunt Mimis dog in the plastic bin and she was so mad at us. We obviously thought it was hilarious, its times like those no matter how long ago they were that bring a smile to my face.I know you will be looking down on us on all holidays in the future just laughing at our family chaos..watch out for "uncle mustash" hes a bit crazy. My very deepest sympathy to you and your family. Erin was a student of Mr. Mickelsen and mine at Issaquah High School and I have very fond memories of your daughter. She was a beaming ball of cheerful energy, and mischief! Her quick wit often caught Mr. Mickelsen by surprise, although, no matter how soft her voice, I'd catch them. I can only imagine the hole in your hearts-her passing has left one in mine, too.

Words can't even express my feelings. I adored Erin and still picture her as that perky little first grader in my class. I will always remember the sound of her laugh and the sparkle in her eyes. I am so extremely sorry for your loss. Even though I did not have the pleasure of going to high school with Erin, our days in grade school I will always remember. She was such a nice and caring girl, always trying to make others laugh. I remember our days at Meridian like they were yesterday. I cannot stop thinking about Erin and your family. She will be missed more than she will ever know. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
