Carol Howson Obituary

Carol Marie HOWSON July 1st, 1930 - May 18th, 2011. Born to Dr. Edwin and Venda Johnson in Fargo, North Dakota, Carol graduat ed from Garfield High School and Washington State University. While teaching school in Mount Vernon, WA she married Richard L. Howson. They raised six children together (Roger, Eric, Ron, Robert, Brian, and Roxanne), and lived in Raven na, Queen Anne, Magnolia, and Bal lard until Rich's death in 1993. Their son Robbie died in 1979. Carol also worked 15 years at Fircrest Residen tial Habitation Center. Carol was a voracious reader of great literature, biographies, mys teries, and best sellers. She studied most of the major religions and cul tures of the world, loved music (especially jazz), enjoyed movies and theater, and luxuriated in every sunny day. Even the onset of macu lar degeneration could not keep her from her precious books and movies. Carol is survived by five of her chil dren (and their spouses), 10 grand children, and one great grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 27th at 2:00pm at Bleitz Funeral Home Chapel, 316 Florentia Street, Seattle, WA 98109. Donations can be made to Community Services for the Blind.

I will always remember Carol and our fun times at the Bite of Seattle. She had such great wit and was always such a gracious and warm woman. Carol, I will miss you.
