Neil Stensland Obituary

Neil F. STENSLAND 78, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 11, 2004 from complications after an appendectomy. He will be remembered both as the "Nice Old Boxboy" from the McMicken Heights Safeway and as the proud father of "Miss Melanie", the local Dance Instructor in Normandy Park. Neil was a man of principal and conviction. He fought in the Korean War on the USS St. Paul after being raised on a farm in Redmond, Washington. He was the first in his family to graduate from College (Seattle U). Neil loved the Lord and taught us to love beyond race, creed or color and to fight for the underdog. For Neil, everyone else came first. He was the first to give up his seat in a waiting room and the last one out the door to help after an event. Neil enjoyed people and never knew a stranger. He is survived by his Brothers Don Stensland of North Bend, Dick Stensland and James Stensland of Redmond, sister Marge Costello of Redmond, Daughter Melanie Sartin & husband Reydavid, Granddaughters, Chelsea & Sydney Sartin and his adopted sons Trent and Ounguan Saechao of Seattle. His Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 PM at Grace Church in West Seattle (Arbor Heights) 10323 28th Ave. SW.
