Hi Paul,
just thought I'd drop you a note. I hope this isn't too odd. We are busy planning to honor you at the St. patrick's Day Dash. Miss you a lot and would rather you do it with us, but will do it in your honor and you can watch us and make sure we have a great time. Miss youl. Joan

Dear Paul,
Thanks for your great generosity and support in getting me and many people to walking and running half and full marathons! Thanks for your friendship and kindness, great laughter and lots of talking! My great sympathies go to Angela, Tara and your family and the rest of us who miss you every day. I think of you often and you are part of Seattle Walk Run, helping us to get going again. You are a truly amazing man. So sorry. Love to all from your friend, Joan

Paul was so welcoming when I first joined Seattle Walk Run. I loved it when he was able to walk with us. His guiding spirit and commitment lives on in those he trained and supported. He will be missed on a day to day basis but he will be around us in spirit for every step we take.

My friend Paul Brock,
I met Paul in 2004 when we were both walkers newly joining the Seattle Fit group. Little did I know at that time about how to approach a half or full marathon, yet alone what it takes for running/walking clubs function on a weekly or seasonal basis. Little did I know then that we would become very good friends.
In 2006 the group would have vanished if not for the efforts Paul put in. Since then we changed from having Home Base in a Fred Meyer parking (rain or shine), to having Home Base that's warm & dry at Bethany Church and now supporting 2 seasons, growing the membership and creating what is now Seattle Walk Run. Paul was the driver of all of these improvements.
I don't know the exact numbers but it's easily in the thousands, the number of half & full marathons that hundreds (if not thousands) of members have successfully completed with the support of Paul & the staff he organized each season.
As sick as Paul got, he still tried to make everything every week go perfectly.
I miss seeing him Saturday mornings as well as going to ball games and other events.
My sympathies go out to his wife Angela and dog Tara.
RIP Paul,
Lee Haynes

Paul,
Such a short time since we met last Spring with Seattle Walk Run. Like so many others, our lives have been changed by joining Seattle Walk Run. You graciously welcomed me to the group mid-season in March and my husband Rick a little later. When I proposed having Team DAWN train along with SWR, you called from your hospital bed to welcome our team to SWR! And, later in the next season endorsed our support of DAWN to all of Seattle Walk Run. Thank you for all of the lives you've impacted by helping other believe in their dreams! The world is better because of you.

I so clearly remember Paul handing my Seattle Walk Run shirt last year. He was always the first to ask if I had a great run. I completed my first Marathon in 2011 because of the Seattle Walk Run club. What a blessing to have known Paul. I will truly miss his presence and positive attitude.

Paul was an inspiring, enthusiastic and truly kind soul. While I did not know Paul well, his enthusiasm for the sport of running/walking kept me showing up week after week at SWR - - even on cold, wet, blustery Saturday mornings, when I could have remained home in a warm bed. Good-bye Paul. I, among many others, will miss your support, guidance and conviction that a person can do anything they put their mind to. (I ran my first 1/2 marathon at age 50 thanks to SWR.) Bless you and your family that remains behind.

I met Paul five years ago when I signed up for the Seattle Walk/Run (Seattle Fit) group. I spoke to him on the phone and told him I wanted to run a ½ marathon in Phoenix, however, the longest distance I had ever run was 3 miles and at the time I was over 50. I thought this would be an unreachable goal. But his kind heart and enthusiasm towards the program brought me to the running group. The very first time I showed up to run I instantly knew I was at the right place.
Not only did I cross that finish line five years ago in Phoenix, but I've since run numerous ½'s, seven Rock n Roll's this year.
Dedication to Paul - I will be running again in the Phoenix Rock in Roll in four weeks and I will dedicate the run to Paul – a man who believed in me before I believed in myself. His dedication to all of us is beyond words.
Thank you Paul….I will truly miss your kind soul.

Angela & Tara,
I was so saddened to hear about Paul. He was such a huge part of my life, and I will miss him greatly. His ability to unite people was unbelievable, it is thanks to Paul that I have so many wonderful people in my life, his existance enriched so many people's worlds. I looked forward to him recovering and for us to continue our Thursday Date Night ritual, the void he has left in my life is great.
It looks like Paul beat all us to Paradise, that old guy always had a plan, he was so smart and wise. I am so thankful to have known him and for all the lessons he taught me.
I am so very sorry for your loss, and my heart goes out to you. You are in my thoughts and wishes.
Love,
Crystal
