Stavros Tsircou Obituary

Stavros (Steve) Tsircou

Stavros (Steve) Tsircou, 78, passed away on July 9, 2013, peacefully with family at his side. He was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather.

Steve was born on April 20, 1935, in Karavas, Cyprus. As the youngest of six siblings, he was a family darling, which nurtured a good-humored disposition that lasted a lifetime. At age 16, Steve left Cyprus for America to reunite with his brother Andreas who preceded him.

On August 28, 1966, he had the good fortune to marry Antigoni Hadjidamianou Tsircou. Together, they raised three children, Maria Tsircou Bridge, Kyriacos Tsircou, and Andreas Tsircou, who love their parents dearly.

With Antigoni at his side, Steve spent a career serving others in his restaurants. Many in Snohomish will have memories of him making pizzas for over 30 years at the Rome Pizza and then the landmark Berry Bowl Restaurant in Clearview, both widely regarded as the best food in the area. It was truly home cooking in that the Tsircou family lived above the Berry Bowl restaurant all those years. Growing up, the Tsircou children always had their dad around, which was a blessing to them. He set an example of hard work and dedication to family that is aspirational, and he did it with love, an infectious laugh, and smiling eyes.

Steve was beloved by his customers, many of whom become good friends through the years. Steve would often be seen sitting down for a coffee and a good laugh. He built a beautiful life where he was surrounded by family and friends from morning to night.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Kyriacos and Androniki; his two brothers, Andreas and Costas; and other dear family members. He is survived by his wife; his children; his sisters, Elpida, Athina, and Maria; and his grandchildren Alec, Ryan, Melina, Gabriel, Leo, and Xander.

Funeral service will be held on July 13, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 19421 Ashworth Ave N, Shoreline, WA with Father Tom officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Washilli Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave., North Seattle, WA 98133.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 19421 Ashworth Ave. North, Seattle WA 98133.

Each of the opportunities I had to spend time with Steve, they were celebratory, wedding, baptism, etc. His joy, warmth and love was so evident, I came to know from Kyri this was the way he was, whether a normal day in the restaurant or one of the most joyous occasions of his life. My deepest condolences and love to the Tsircou family.

All of the members of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Shoreline WA will truly miss Stavros. He was truly one of our best cooks at our outside barbecues roasting lamb on the spit and chickens on the grill. May his memory be eternal.

We are all deeply saddened by the news of Steve's death. So many memories of Cindy, Logan and Hanna doing their homework in one or two of the booths while being fed the best salads and Italian food in the neighborhood. Steve will always hold a place in our hearts.

May your memory be eternal.

To the Steve Tsircou family,

Our love and prayers go out to you. You knew Steve as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. My family remembers Steve as a cherished friend. For about two decades Steve fed us at the Berry Bowl - good food, good humor, precious memories. From the time the babies were just old enough to knock their heads on the tables to oldest son James' groom's dinner 15 years ago, you were a part of our family celebrations. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Rest in peace dear friend. And to your family - may God bring His Comfort, and surround you with His Love.

What a joy it was to count Steve among our friends. HIs light shone through him with his twinkly smile, crackly laugh and his warm hugs. He is one of those men for whom "May his memory be eternal" is a given. Who could forget him. We will miss him very much and we pray that you find comfort in knowing that many friends are sharing in your loss. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with
us, he was a gift.
