Les Babb gave so much to us, and it is fitting that we recognize him. He managed the development of the home dialysis unit, now called "artificial kidney" using engineering principles that he had to develop and improve upon. Current machines are based on his early design. He and his students continued to improve on those early designs, and hundreds of thousands of people are being treated today. Near the end of his career he taught the beginning chemical engineering class, thus lending his expertise to the new generation. He contributed greatly to mankind.

RIP. Condolences to your families. He was a former professor if mine and put the profession into a much larger social context.

It's still difficult to believe that Les is gone. He was a part of my life since marrying my grandmother in the early 70's. I've spent the past few weeks remembering all the times spent with Les. I have fond memories of all the Christmas's, the annual Seafair Races at their home, and dinners out to Canlis, my grandparents favorite restaurant.
I will cherish my special memories, and am happy that Les and my grandmother are together again.

Les and Marion were our next door neighbors in Mt Baker for several years. We have wonderful memories of both of them and our thoughts are with their families.

I have many fond memories of Les, who filled the role of my grandfather over the last 40 plus years. Our chats over lunch made me appreciate how much he loved my grandmother and inspired me to be a better man. Rest in peace Grampa, you were loved!
