When I think of Anne Green, I always see her smiling, hear her laugh, and remember her wonderful sense of humor! She was a valued neighbor, and a treasured friend. If a child ever cried out while playing in our neighborhood, Anne was always there checking to see if they had an injury that needed her care. It was so comforting for them to be tended to so carefully by Anne and then given the go-ahead to resume playing with their friends after a scraped knee or elbow was cleaned and bandaged, or perhaps simply a tear was wiped away with tenderness and caring!
Anne welcomed our young daughter into her family as if she were her own. Our parents lived far away from Washington state, and Anne became the grandmother our daughter didn’t have and longed for! She also gave me lots of good parenting advice over the years! Thank you, Anne, from the bottom of my heart!
Anne, you will forever be in our hearts and fondest memories ~ a very special lady with a heart of gold!
Heart of Gold
Heart of brilliance, heart of worth,
A gift given to the earth.
Heart of silence, heart of laughter,
Shared each day and each one after.
Heart of wonder, heart of gold,
Heart with beauty to behold.
Heart forever blessed with love,
Given by the Lord above.
Heart joined with a caring soul,
Faithful to each chosen goal.
Heart whose strength has opened doors
I am glad this heart was yours.

While I did not know Anne, I know of her kindness and generosity. She gave back to our medical students through the Friends of the School of Medicine which has made a difference to hundreds of medical students over the past 30+ years. She is a treasure and will be missed dearly by her friends here at the University of Washington.
