God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes..Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts, to prove to us, He only takes the best.
You'll always be in our hearts
Thank You for everything....
We love you,

You were the grandpa that I knew growing up. You were always there for all of us, and you stood up for me even though I might have been wrong because of your love. Thank you for everything.

It really feels like just yesterday when we were in Canada for the first time, and you showed me "creepy mouse".. So much has happened since then, and I'm glad that you were a part of our lives. Thank you for all of the life advice that you have given me and the stories that you have shared with all of us. You will always be in my heart, and I hope that one day I will have tears in my eyes when I hear "America the Beautiful" just like you wanted me to. We miss you!

Pops was revered as part of our family despite the difference in blood we consider him as part of the family. He will always be loved.

My deceased wife Peggy and I knew Art who worked with Marina Aumann for many years. We swapped sea stories and a lot of good jokes. Marianne and I will keep him in our hearts and in our prayers. Farewell good friend may you have fair winds and following seas, and may you be half and hour in heaven before the devil knows you are dead. Marianne and Joe Russel

Pop,wanted to be called " pretty boy" of the family.... I will be forever grateful having Him as our grandpa. We may not be related by blood, but we are related "by heart"....Destiny brought us together... He was with us thru good times and bad times, laughed with us and cried with us......always proud of our achievements....We will surely miss Him.... Life wont be the same without Him....

Grandpa or pop as he is fondly known to us, is a humble man with always a sense of humor. I cannot forget the saying that he told me on not to get lost. always put a lighted candle on the window so that it will show your way back. He will always be remembered as the "pretty boy". We had known him for so many years and he will always be in our heart. from Eduardo L. Mejia and family, julie, ej. raika, naisen

Uncle Art always seemed bigger than life to me.
His stories, whether of his childhood (the mostly innocent mischief he and his friends got into; raising homing pigeons; sneaking in after curfew only to trip over a small table my mom had strategically placed in the darkened hallway so he'd trip and get caught---at least once!); his experiences in the Navy during WWII (becoming a deep sea diver with all the terror and triumph associated with that; watching the signing of the peace treaty with Japan and how happy he felt that day!); or his adventures and mishaps on the golf course (often declaring that the game could drive one totally to the brink of sanity; the pride he took in the golf cart he managed to deck out as a comfort station!); his love of pheasant hunting with his best pal (dog) JJ (regaling us with descriptions of how perfectly JJ would pose, point and fetch, making the perfect coffee for the thermos and hanging out in "fields of cold"!)---none of these and the multitudes of other stories he told ever got old. Somehow they always seemed timeless and new as he'd settle into his story-telling mode.
It was a special gift over the years to watch as both my children and grandchildren were entranced with his repertoire of stories. He never failed to capture his audience!!
Most importantly, however, is that I knew him as a kind, generous man of integrity who loved me. My Uncle Art.

My Uncle Art was so cool. As a goofy and akward pre-teen he always made me feel important. I frequently stopped at his house with a friend as we walked to the local Safeway to blow our allowances on candy. He always met us at the door with a soda and a Snickers. He humored us with his stories an jokes and listening to us go on and on about the boy of the month. I will miss him. As an adult I was lucky enough to hear his many stories and jokes. It was so easy to sit and listen to him, he was just so interesting. I appreciate his service to our country and to his family. He is missed. Caroline
