you know i think that alot of us students just loved her so much that we thought that she would live forever. Mrs. Davis, as we all called her was not only loved by all the thousands of students that we fortunate enough to have her but our parents loved her too. I would be with my mom and dad at QFC and there she would be. long conversations would begin between my parents and mrs. davis. she was not only part of the school she was bigger then life in the community as well. I grew up loving to read. one of my fondest memories was the yearly reading of Where The Red Fern Grows by Mrs. Davis. She must have read that book 50 times, but when she was reading it to you, it was just like the first time. all of us sitting there crying when dan and little ann died. Your mom, grandmother and great-grandmother meant so much to so many. i was sick that i didnt here about her passing until yesterday. I am going to do something in her name. Something with reading with children and Where the Red Fern Grows. I am so honored to have known her and my thoughts are with you.

I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to know this wonderful lady as a student . I was so happy to finally speak with her again 40 years later. I remember calling a number that I hoped might lead to her. When what sounded to me to be a woman with far to much energy to be that of a 97 year old woman,I immediately apologized for bothering her and explained that I'd hoped to locate my 5th grade teacher. She said "well you just did". I told her that she wouldn't remember me and she definitely proved me wrong! I will treasure my chats with her on the phone. Rest in peace. God Bless your family and the thousands who miss you!

Bertha and I taught together at Webster. Taking my class to the library each week was a special treat. Bertha would meet us at the door dressed in a book character costume. Years later, when my family moved to the Webster neighborhood, my son, David, was fortunate to be in her class. I often saw Bertha through the years and was always uplifted by her outgoing, and encouraging personality. I will miss her.

Mrs. Davis was my 5th grade teacher and I loved her. She was kind and warm, and always made her students feel special. I was lucky enough to see her a few weeks before she died with some other Webster grads. She touched a lot of lives and is an example of a life well lived. My condolences to her family.

To Bertha's family, my thoughts and prayers are with each of you as you celebrate Bertha's life. I remember her from the neighborhood. Loosing a parent is so difficult as I know when my parents passed. With love....................

I will always be grateful to my wonderful Bertha for being a terrific mentor and friend. Bertha gave me the guidance, as a beginning teacher, which led to a happy and fulfilling career. She has touched so many lives. You are in my heart forever!
