Beverly Call Obituary

Beverly Jean (Carlson) CALL Beverly Jean Call passed away peacefully with her family in attendance on Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 at the age of 76 at home in Bellevue, Washington. She fought a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Myrtle Carlson of Wilder, Idaho. She is survived by her husband, Dwight Call of Bellevue, Washington, daughters Deborah Call of Renton, Washington and Lisa Hawk (Howard) of Medina, Washington, son Gregory Call (Carolyn) of Oakland, California and five wonderful grandchildren. In addition she is survived by her sister Gayle Neumann (Werner) of Lynnwood, Washington and her brother Larry Carlson (Annette) of Caldwell, Idaho. Beverly was born November 11, 1934 in Caldwell, Idaho. She grew up on the family farm in Wilder, Idaho and graduated from Wilder High School in 1952. Attending the University of Idaho for 4 years, she graduated in 1956 with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. During her junior year she met Dwight Call who then was a student at Washington State University. Beverly and Dwight married in September 1955 and both graduated in 1956. Their first jobs took them to Portland, Oregon where Beverly taught school for one year in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The focus then moved on to becoming an active mother and expert on moving. For 15 years she was responsible for organizing and moving their family many times as her husband was pursuing his career with Westin Hotels. In 1971 the family settled and remained in Bellevue. Beverly excelled at motherhood and parenting and was always active in the schooling of her children and the school system itself. Always finding time for her community, she was active for many years in the Overlake Service League and the Friendship Circle among other organizations. She enjoyed life to the fullest and exuded joy and happiness in everyday living. A big part of her life was entertaining family and friends. Much of this took place in the summer at the Cabin on the shore of Lake Cavanaugh 90 minutes North of Bellevue. She was also active in the La Paloma community in Tucson during the winter enjoying golf, bridge and other activities with family and friends. She also enjoyed travel with her husband visiting places both near and far. Her grace, smile and easy way will be missed by her family and friends. An informal celebration of her life will take place at Overlake Country Club, 8000 NE 16th Street, Medina, on March 5 beginning at 3 pm with a reception to follow. The family suggests that remembrances be made to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, 801 Broadway, Suite 701, Seattle, WA 98122.
