Dan Sr. was a neighbor of mine growing up on Cemetery Road in Renton. He and his family took me along with them on trips to the Ocean, Capitol and fishing and camping trips. I remember one fishing trip on Lake Washington in Dan's boat when I hooked a large sockeye salmon and the reel on my pole broke loose due to the rivets giving way. The reel fell to the bottom of Dan's boat and my line went slack and it resulted in my losing the fish. Dan Sr. picked up my reel from the bottom of the boat and threw it into Lake Washington and said "there, that damned reel won't lose another fish". It was hilarious and I really did not mind losing the reel as it was junk anyway. I always kidded Dan about that after that, and he would moan and say, "you never will let me forget that, will you?" I had lots of fun as a child going places with the Meddaugh's and staying overnight and eating huge delicious breakfasts cooked by my friend Danny's mother, Ellen. I will always think of the enjoyment I had during those years as a kid. May God take care of you now Dan. Sincerely, John McTighe
