Doris Dyson Obituary

Doris DYSON April 5 1929 ~ February 12 2011 Doris Dyson was the life of every party. To her, life WAS a party from the day it started on April 5th, 1929. Famous for her song and dance, from breakdancing to line dancing, she was forever young at heart. Doris graduated from The University of Washington Business School at a time when the field was still dominated by men, being one of just three women in her graduating class. She went on to a long and successful career as an independent Certified Public Accountant and businesswoman, even doing accounting work for the 1962 World's Fair! President of the Seattle chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA), Doris was popular and easily made friends with people from all walks of life. She was a lifelong supporter of Husky Football, The Seattle Mariners, and The Super Sonics....and a fair weather Seahawks fan. Doris enjoyed traveling around the country and the world meeting new people and seeing new places. She is survived by her two loving sons and daughter-in-law, her two beautiful granddaughters, and Edward. Doris supported her children and grandchildren in every endeavor from music to business, from sports to graffiti, and she will continue to be an inspiration to all of us. We will always remember the parties, dinners, musicals, and super bowls. A memorial party for Doris will be held on Sunday the 20th of February. Please contact Art Primo: (206)365-4083 for details. At the memorial will be a special presentation of Doris singing her renowned Pancho Villa song as well as food, music, dancing, and a slide show. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Shoreline YMCA.

I met Doris at ASWA many years after she retired, yet she remained an active and visible member of our chapter, and she was always so much fun. To me she embodied the spirit of ASWA which is to be involved and to reach out, and I imagine that she inspired others to do the same.

I am sorry to hear about Doris. I first met on an ASWA conference cruise in May 2000, where Doris was my assigned roommate. She showed me what it is like to have fun! Doris is a wonderful person, she will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Doris's passing. I haven't talked to her since 2007. She was still very sharp. The nicest person you'd want to meet.

I am very sorry to hear about Doris. When I first joined ASWA, Doris made me feel so welcome. She told me of all the great memories she had of ASWA, and all the wonderful friends she had made.
