Dorothy MacKinnon Obituary

Dorothy P. (Austin) MacKINNON Died on 3-8-11 at her home in Madi son House in Kirkland. She was 96. She was born in Sweetwater Co, Reed Point, MT to Ethan and Mary (Baxter) Austin, 2-17-15. She was the middle of 3 daughters and the middle of 7 children. The family lived on a homestead west of Reed Point along the Yellowstone River. In winter the family moved into town where Ethan would work as a janitor for the school that his children attended. The family moved to Seattle in 1928. Dorothy graduated from Franklin High and worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in the Seattle area. She married Knox MacKinnon in 1950 and the couple lived in Lake Forest Park from 1952 until 1997 when they moved into Madison House. Knox died in 2002. Dorothy is survived by 2 daughters, Laurie Ide (husband Courtney) of Monroe, WA and Glenna MacKinnon (husband Steve Beaty) of Eugene, OR; younger brother Adin Austin of Kent WA, two sisters-in-law; numer ous nieces and nephews and one granddaughter. No funeral service is planned.
