I am so sorry to hear of Ellen's passing. Although I didn't know her because I haven't seen her since we were very young my heart has always had the yearning to touch base with my family. She sounded like such a free spirited wonderful person. So as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Ellen will be missed very much... I remember the days I first moved to Seattle and got involved with the "Ken and Ellen show" as I called it. They were never extreme kayakers but loved to surf, which is my favorite part of kayaking. I will remember lots of trips to Wenatchee and the mosh pit with Ellen.... My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Ellen was one of those rare individuals who immediately captured your heart with her smile and who always had a kind word or a word of encouragement when you were down. Whenever I went on a river trip or ocean surfing, it always made my day when I knew that Ellen would be with me. I will miss you . . .

I had the distinct pleasure of spending many days kayaking with Ken and Ellen. There were many dinners and shared moments with both of them. Ellen was always a ray of sunshine that would cut through the worst NW weather. She always had a positive attitude and was full of joy. Her love of the outdoors was as great as her compassion for all of us she touched. While our paths haven't crossed in a few years, the memories of our adventures together will always be fresh. My heart goes out to all that know and loved Ellen. The world has lost a wonderful and beautiful person.

I have missed Ellen's presence since hearing the news of her sudden death. Ellen inspired my soul and touched my heart (as she did all of those who knew her). I had the honor of working with Ellen for many years. She was an extraordinary oncology nurse who gave her patients a part of herself to make their cancer journey one with more ease and meaning. I have so many memories of Ellen caring for her patients with her calm, patient and loving manner. Ellen was also a friend. Ellen inspired me to always live my life to its fullest as she did hers. I have special memories sharing the shower room after we had both come to work on our bikes. I shared Ellen's love of the outdoors and she was always sharing her stories and telling me of places I must visit. We also shared a love of dogs and often shared stories of Rio and Sassy - our dogs. Ellen encouraged me during the time my husband and I made our decision to move to the area which was our dream and while we made that dream a reality. We moved to Wenatchee in 2006. There are so many special places we frequent that Ellen shared the location with us. We were at Echo Ridge last sunday xcountry skiing and thoughts of Ellen passed by me all day as she is the one who shared what a special place that is. I was so happy for Ellen when she met Ken and it was clear how much in love they were. I am glad they were able to have time to live their dream in a place they both loved and have so much sadness that this time was not longer. Ken - my heart and prayers are with you during this challenge of loss and grief. Ellen also shared stories of her childhood in Hawaii. You could tell how much her family meant to her and I also keep them in my heart and prayers. I know there are many who share my heavy grieving heart. May Ellen's beautiful spirit keep inspiring us now that she is gone. Aloha Ellen - you were the one who told me that Aloha means both hello and goodbye.
