Gertrude Elizabeth EILERS (Eggers) Gertrude Elizabeth Eilers (Eggers} went home to be with the Lord, May 3, 2011 at the age of 86 years. She was born in New Plymouth, Idaho and grew up in Snohomish, Washington. She graduated from Snohomish High School and attended the University of Washington. As a college student, she met her future husband, Herbert L. Eilers, when he returned from working in the Navy shipyards at Pearl Harbor during World War II. They were married for 48 years before Herb passed away in 1996. Gert was a stay- at-home mom to four children, as was the custom of the era, and took great pleasure and joy in being a mother. A lifelong Lutheran, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Seattle for more than 60 years. She worked as a "Lunch Lady" at Nathan Eckstein Jr. High School and later as an administrative assistant to the Head of the Food and Beverage Department at Frederick and Nelson Department Store, retiring there in 1981 Gert will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She had a positive outlook on life and an encouraging word for all. She was the best example of a loving Christian woman. Gert is survived by children, Katherine Howard of Chula Vista, California, Nancy and Shea Gregory of Shoreline, Washington, Christine Eilers of Honolulu, Hawaii, Gregg and Jerin Eilers of Kirkland, Washington, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life, honoring Gertrude, will be held Monday, May 9th at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Seattle. Memorial donations may be made to Concordia Lutheran School, Seattle or to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

The Eilers and the Antles have been close for about 65 years. Karen and I will miss her greatly.
God looked around his garden, And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you, And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never, Get well on this earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids, And whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you, The day God called you home.

Gert was such a kind, gentle presence, always interested in other people and sympathetic toward them. Her life was a witness to her strong Christian faith and love for her Savior. We will miss her friendship and loving spirit very much.

How I will miss my wonderful Aunt Gert. Her beautiful smile and loving arms were truly gifts she happily shared with all. She was a humble servant to the lord and is now in his loving arms.
