Grant William Davidson

Grant William DAVIDSON Grant William Davidson was born on November 20, 1953, in Portland, OR and peacefully passed away at home on May 3, 2011, in Redmond, WA. He spent his boyhood in Hornbrook, CA, where he enjoyed fishing the mountain lakes and Klamath River. He was a proud Boy Scout and liked hiking and camping. As a youth, he was playfully called 'Mr. Baseball' and was avid about team sports. After graduating from Yreka High School, Grant joined the Army. He loved to travel and saw most of Europe while stationed in Germany. His love for travelling continued throughout his life and was second only to his fondness for fine food and the art of gourmet cooking. Grant worked tirelessly to promote agriculture and small farms throughout Washington. He served as President of the Washington State Farmers Market Association and on the King County Agricultural Commission. His passion was for local farmers markets; and he was the founding manager of markets in Woodinville, Kirkland, Lake Forest Park, Crossroads and Mountlake Terrace. Grant helped many local growers get their start. His compassion and generous spirit knew no bounds. His tireless advocacy helped expand opportunities for low-income families and seniors to buy fresh produce at farmers markets. Grant loved the Christmas season, and friends liked to call him 'Mr. Christmas.' He enjoyed entertaining, and he beautifully decorated his home for all to see. The centerpiece was his amazing Dickens' Village with more than a hundred lighted houses, churches, castles, shops and scores of accessories. Every year Grant's village grew. Grant was preceded in death by his beloved wife Julie and his parents Lew and Shirley Burket. He is survived by his son Scott Davidson; Julie's daughters Jen Rak, Kim Rak and Danielle Rak McNulty; siblings Toni Bray, Shawn Walters, Beth Peters and Scott Burket; and granddaughters Erica, Cassandra, Audrey and Gabriella. A celebration of Grant's life will be held Sunday, May 15, at 10 a.m. before the opening of the Lake Forest Park Farmers Market, 17171 Bothell Way NE.
