Jack BUZZARD Obituary

Jack Dempsey BUZZARD Born February 5, 1933 in Cebu City, Philippines to Ulysses Grant Buzzard and Enrica Otom. Jack married the love of his life, Marcela Alaura, on August 16, 1951, spending 60 full, family-filled years together. Courageous, determined and a hard-worker, Jack provided for his family through work first in the Philippines, then Alaska and then with Northwest Airlines based in Seattle, where he rose from dishwasher to executive chef holding international duties for several years before he retired after 40 years with the company. Jack's ongoing involvement in community and cultural affairs included his position as Vice-President of the Filipino Community of Seattle, and establishment of the sister city relationship between Cebu City and Seattle. The respect and love that Jack enjoyed within his family and the esteem with which he was regarded professionally and within the community are well-deserved. He spent a large part of his life helping others to improve their lives and opportunities. Jack is survived by Marcela, his children Myra (and Alan) Donaldson, Laurence Buzzard and Irene (and Henry) Alazas, his 4 grandchildren and great grandchild, sisters Edith Dial and Ethel Santos, and numerous other family, friends and associates who will always miss, love and fondly remember him.A celebration of Jack's life will begin with a viewing on Thursday, February 17th, 1-5pm and Rosary on Friday February 18th at 7:00 p.m., both at Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac. Funeral mass will be Saturday February 19, 12:30, at St. James Cathedral, 804 - 9th Ave, Seattle, reception following.

Auntie Marcela,

We would like to express our sincere condolences on the recent passing of Uncle Jack. Our Family sends our thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this difficult time.

I spent many years with Uncle Jack at St James Cathedral as Minister of Hospitality and I did come to realize his great kindness and compassion to those less fortunate than him. And I do know that he was very respected throughout this community of faith and his good ministry touched the lives of so many.

You were fortunate to have as model a man in your life.

Please pass our deepest sympathy on to Irene, Myra, Lawrence and to all of the family.

Very Sincerely,

Art Condes for the Condes Family
