James Longmuir Obituary

James S. Longmuir

Jim Longmuir passed peacefully on September 12, 2012 after a full life that spanned 971/2 years. Born in 1915 in Pasco, WA, he moved with his family to Seattle when he was five, went to Queen Anne High School, and graduated in 1937 from the University of Washington, where he earned his letter as captain of the golf team. He spent WW II as a flight instructor in the Navy, and then started a career in marine insurance. When he decided that his true passion was music, he spent many years entertaining in piano lounges as "Sing-along with Jimmy Long." He played mostly by ear and memorized thousands of tunes for which he could sing all the lyrics. After he stopped playing professionally, he kept active as what he called "oldest lifeguard in the Northwest" at the Shoreline Pool. Jim was predeceased by Ardene, his wife of 65 years, in 2005. He leaves behind his family of three sons: Gary, Kenneth, and David (Nancy), and two grandchildren, Colin and Kelsey. By Jim's request, no services will be held.
