Johanna Vogelsang Obituary

Sister Johanna VOGELSANG, CSJP St. Joseph of Peace Sister Johanna Vogelsang died peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Bellevue, WA. Sr. Vogelsang was born in Saskatchewan Canada on August 23, 1915; she entered the Community of Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in 1936. Over the past 75 years Sr. Johanna was a teacher, principal of Catholic Schools in Bellevue, WA, supervised religious education programs in the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Diocese of Fairbanks, AK and served in a variety of roles within the Community of Sisters. During the last 25 years of her life she lived and served at St. Mary-on-the-Lake in Bellevue WA. Sr. Johanna is survived by her sister, Clara Menz who lives in Saskatchewan Canada. Vigil Service will be on Thursday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. BOTH services atSt. Mary-on-the-Lake, 1663 Killarney Way, Bellevue, WA In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, PO Box 248, Bellevue, WA 98009-0248. Our family will miss Sr Johanna very much.
She was a kind and gentle woman who always had a great big smile for everyone.We remember her unique sense of humor.And, we remember the example her deep faith was to all of us.

Sr Johanna was very dear to us when we were children.I and my two sisters eagerly anticipated her visits to the farm in Saskatchewan.It was a real treat as we travelled with her and Aunt Mary as they visited and renewed old friendships.What a role model for all-kind,gentle,serene with a great sense of humor.you will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

I will miss the regular calls from my dear aunt. She was always concerned about each and every member of her family. She would call a member of each of her sibling's families to find out how everyone was doing. She will be missed. Rest in peace in your eternal home Sr. Johanna.

Sister Johanna was my aunt.I had the most contact with her in the last 5 years. We would phone back and forth-she was always concerned with how I was doing.It meant a lot to me.
