Joseph German Obituary

Joseph LaVelle GERMAN Age 85, of Carnation, died on February 1, 2011. Mr. German was born in Bellingham, WA on January 25th, 1926 to William and Ruth German. He grew up in Bellingham, graduating from Bellingham HS in 1943 and joining the Navy the following January. He served in the Pacific Theater of WWII as a radioman. After discharge he attended Western Washington University and Washington State University, obtaining a BS in Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist in Concrete, WA from 1953-1956. In 1956 he purchased the pharmacy in Carnation which he operated until his retirement in 1991. He was a member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 199 in Carnation. He was a member and Past Master of the Falls City Lodge No. 66 of the Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. German was predeceased by his wife, Mary Louise, in 1981. Survivors include his son Joseph L. German Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; daughters Mary Lou McMeins and Paula Lucas (Paul) of Carnation, WA and Katherine German of Bellevue, WA; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
