Just heard this sad news today, February 8th. We were in the same class at HNA. Even though it was a small enough class that everyone knew each other, most people spent their time with a circle of friends. Kaari was one of those rare people who talked with everyone, especially those or were quiet or shy. When Kaari attended a 20 year reunion event, she was so radiant while talking about her family. She will truly be missed at the 30th reunion next year.

I wrote this poem Feb. 2007 and I think of Kaari in my words. I'll see you in the clouds Kaari.
Look Up
She loves to find sweet life,
That lives up in the sky.
Clouds paint so many pictures
She need not ask them why.
Today she saw the hummingbird
And then the dragonfly.
A otter lay across the clouds,
A dolphin made her cry.
Too many sites display themselves
She can’t believe her eyes
If one were to ever remember her
Just look up, and she’ll say hi.
Look up and she’ll say hi!
Kaari Michl as we will remember her.

My heart aches to hear that you are gone, Kaari. You have had so many life struggles yet always had a smile, a heart of gold and kind words for us, your friends. You will be missed, our sweet gentle soul – we love you!

Dearest Kaari, I will miss you so much you were my best friend and I don't even know what to say to express how sad I am. I was looking at pictures last night of happy times, wedding both yours and mine, baby showers, trips to Leavenworth, the Island. Sad to think I will never share that with you again. I was so looking forward to that big porch and rocking chairs when we got old! I miss you sweetie, I pray you will find peace in your afterlife you could never find on earth. I will see you again one day and we will laugh and chat, until then rest in peace. There will always be a place in my heart for you. Sheri

Kaari, I will miss you so much, you were my best friend and we shared so many memories together. I looked through wedding pictures both yours and mine, trips to the Islands and Leavenworth with the girls, we had so much fun. A light in my life is gone never to be replaced. I hope you will find peace in the afterlife you never found on earth. I will see you again some day and we will laugh and talk like we once did, until that time I will miss you always and there will always be a piece of my heart that is will you. Love you always. Sheri

I am so shocked and saddened to hear about Kaari. I haven't connected with her in a while, but know her to be a wonderful mother and person. We met in a music class when the girls were young and found out we were pregnant with our sons about the same time. Watching Kaari as she fought to give Ryan a good life was an inspiration. Her grace and selfless effort were amazing. My daughter, Madeline Emerson, is also very sorry to hear this news. She would love to help Lindsay in any way possible. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We are so sorry for this tragic loss.

Sweet Kaari. That is what I will remember always. Her sweet, kind nature. She was rarely without a smile and always with something witty or funny to say. Giggling during Religion classes or fighting to see who would sit next to the radiator during the winter. She wanted everyone to be happy. She showed a strength of character during the tough times and loved being a mother. She spoke with pride and joy of Lindsay and Ryan. My prayers are with her children and her family. She was loved.....
