Laura Baugh Obituary

Laura (Lolly) BAUGH Lolly could hit a golf ball a country mile, she had a tennis serve that that tore the racket out of your hands and she skied like a tornado. She was at "home" at a party, both elegant and rustic. Born in Toledo, Ohio on New Year's Eve in 1927 to parents George and Marion Doust, Lolly graduated from Roosevelt High School (1946) and from the U of W (1950). As a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, she was involved in many student activities. She met Bob Baugh at the UW when he had returned from a Navy tour, and they were married after her graduation. They recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. Bob led Baugh Construction Co, into a position as a première builder of Seattle's skyline. When time permitted, the couple took People To People Tennis tours, building good relationships in 21 nations. Often, people they had met were entertained in Seattle. Lolly was involved and contributed generously to Ryther Child Center, Orthopedic Hospital and the symphony, where one year she chaired the Symphony Ball. Lolly died peacefully at Mirabella Care Facility on May 5. Naturally, Bob was nearby. The Baughs have two children, Carolyn and Tom, who live in California, 4 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Lolly was predeceased by her parents and sister, Janet. Services will be announced at a future date. The family is especially grateful for her loving impact on their lives this Mother's Day.

I remember Lolly and Bob Baugh fondly, and I extend my deepest condolences to their family and loved ones always... it is never easy to lose those we love. They were cherished members of my desert community, known for their warmth, kindness, and generosity. Lolly's infectious laughter and Bob's gentle spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew them. May their memories bring comfort and peace to those who mourn their loss, even after all these years have past, and may they rest in eternal peace.

What a wonderful weekend we had...Thank you again!

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.

I was privileged to be a part of Lolly's life for two seasons in the desert as her trainer, Lolly always came in with a smile and ready to work, we all looked forward to seeing her. She always had great stories to tell, one which even surprised me as we found out that her son worked for the Disney family (the Millers) and My mom worked for them for 27 years at Retlaw. Turns out we had more in common than just, tennis, golf, exercise and Husky football! it's a "small world" and I was honored to know and serve her. I'll always remember when Lolly and Bob invited me to fly up from the desert to see a Washington football game and see the beautiful city they lived in. We had so much fun, it was one of the highlights of my life to spend a weekend with the Baughs. As Thomas Campbell so eloquently put it... "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."

Mom was amazing! The most tenacious, gracious and loving mother a son could have. Her resolve in overcoming her multiple strokes and doing so with grit, fierce determination and always with the biggest smile and most positive attitude is a shining example for all of us when faced with adversity. She and my dad were the ultimate couple, the best example of a loving, caring, devoted marriage that stood the test of time. I am glad she is finally at peace, as no one has fought to make a positive difference in life as hard as she has. Tenacious, giving, and loving to the end.

Lollie was a vivacious personality with an infectious laugh. She and Bob made a great couple and we were privileged to have known them both.
