Leland J. Barnecut

Leland J. BARNECUT Leland (Leo) Jennings Barnecut, born July 8, 1927, in Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2011, in Carlsbad, California, age 84. His death was due to complications from a recent fall. He is survived by his wife Norma, and his children (by first wife Alysse Ochsner) Emilia Barnecut Ford, Peter Leland Barnecut, Bret Michael Barnecut, Leland Jennings Barnecut, his brother Ray V. Barnecut, and six grandchildren.He was a Navy veteran, serving on the submarine chaser USS PCE-895, and graduated from West Seattle High School and the University of Washington. His career accomplishments included early years spent at Boeing, Lockheed in California, then Arthur Young & Company, and subsequently consulting the Department of Defense, and many international government projects, in his own company. He consulted the local municipal governments of the cities of Redmond, Bellevue, and the Port of Seattle, among others. He was a long-time resident of Bainbridge Island, prior to his recent move to Carlsbad, California. He loved the beach, tennis, and was an accomplished wood carver of large sculptures. He was a member of the Washington Athletic Club, several country clubs, and was active in Rotary International. Leo had a quick wit, made friends easily, and will be sorely missed. There will be no public services per Leo's request.
