Liselotte Barnes Obituary

Liselotte BARNES Liselotte Barnes passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2011 after suffering a stroke in December 2010. Lisa is survived by her husband Robert Barnes, 10 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was born on November 17, 1926 in Furth, Germany, the only child of Ernst and Marie Meinel. She flew to Seattle in January 1947 to marry her first love, an American who courted her in Germany at the end of WWII. Delighted with her new homeland, she soon became an American citizen along with her parents who joined her to settle in Seattle in 1950. She and her husband lived in Shoreline, where they raised 4 children and a menagerie of animals. She spent her last years in Kirkland married to Robert. She worked for Frederick & Nelson, was an avid gardener and had an innate talent for interior decorating. Lisa's gregariousness, hugs and generosity were here signature trademarks. She was happiest when serving food and desserts while surrounded by friends and family. She took great pride in her title 'Oma', by which she was affectionately known after the birth of her grandchildren. Oma's love for her family was rivaled only by her love of travel and the Seattle Seahawks. She traveled all over the world with a special fondness for her land of birth. Lisa served for years as correspondent for the Seahawker's Fan Club. She could be heard yelling, "vee vant a touch down!" from the far corners of the Kingdome. This colorful Bavarian will always be remembered fondly by those whose paths she crossed. There will be no service at Lisa's request.
