Marie Desrosier Obituary

Marie Helen DESROSIER Marie Helene Desrosier joined the Blessed Mother in heaven on January 17, 2011. She was born September 28, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joseph and Honorate Castonguay, the third of ten children. Marie married Wilbur Desrosier, of Crookston, Minnesota on November 30, 1946. They were blessed with 10 children. In 1957, Wilbur and Marie moved their family to Edmonds, Washington where they attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church for over 40 years. Marie was active in the guild at Holy Rosary. Marie's four daughters and two of her sons were married at Holy Rosary. The next 40 years Marie and Wilbur spent raising their 10 children through it all; school, graduations, weddings, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retirement, Marie and Wilbur moved to Desert Hot Springs, California and Mesa, Arizona to live near, and spend time with other retired brothers and sisters. During this retirement, Marie finally had time for herself and she devoted that time to doing extensive family tree research on both the Desrosier and Castonguay families. She completed her project in 2009 and the family tree book was given to her children. Marie and Wilbur returned to the Seattle area in 2007. Marie's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed family activities anytime but most of all at Christmas. Marie is survived by, Wilbur, her beloved husband of 64 years; her children Craig Desrosier, Michelle Angell, Colleen Garthwaite, Jerry Desrosier, Bill Desrosier, Rose Neal, Ken Desrosier, Jon Desrosier, and Tami Tollefson; 22 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Leone Knaeble, George Castonguay, Noella Ericson, Terry Lindgren, Mike Castonguay, Rose Smeby, Colonel Joseph Castonguay; and was preceded in passing by son, Michael Desrosier, brother Paul Castonguay and sister Valerie Keske. A Rosary will be said Thursday January 20, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 5th Avenue South, Edmonds, Washington. The funeral mass will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630 7th Avenue North, Edmonds, Washington. Following the mass, Marie will be laid to rest at Holyrood Cemetery Shoreline, Washington. Please share memories with the family at www.becksfuneralhome.com.
