Frank and Maggie, I join the rest of her former co-workers to say how much Marlene meant to us in the work place. My husband Mark worked in the Shipping dept. and Marlene was my immediate supervisor at King Co. Library's Seattle Service Center, in the Music Cataloging dept. Later we worked together in Cataloging-Processing when she returned to KCLS after a few years. We enjoyed celebrating her pending motherhood and giving her a special baby shower to welcome Maggie into our library family. She loved Frank and Maggie so much plus dear Cosmic, their Bichon Frise pup. We missed her when she left us to eventually continue her library career at Shoreline CC. Her passing came as quite a shock for those of us who did not know of her illness. God's blessings to her family, colleagues, and friends. With affection, Barb and Mark Matter

You are both very special people to have shared so much of her life.
I am taking comfort in know she is painfree and at peace.

Marlene was a dear classmate throughout elementary, high school, and even college years. We were even neighbors for a short time in Slayton. My husband, daughters, and I had the pleasure of visiting Frank & Marlene in Seattle last March and I treasure the memories and wonderful photos we have of that day together. Marlene even sent us off with a bag of delicious ginger cookies for our trip. We will miss her Christmas letters with news of her year and updates on their lovely daughter, Maggie. I wish we could have met Maggie but hope she knows how much she and Frank are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless.

Marlene and I were roommates in a college dorm at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall. She was such a faithful friend to send birthday and Christmas cards every year. Even though we had not seen each other for a long time, her loss leaves a gap in my life. We had such good conversations in college, and I enjoyed seeing her once in Seattle. In the age of e-mail, I appreciated her personal letters. I am thinking of Frank, Maggie and her family. Thanks to her sister Katie for calling me.

Marlene was my boss for some of her years at King County Library. I both liked and respected her and enjoyed our time in cataloging.

I can see Marlene was well loved and will be missed by many. This is so amazing to loose her at such, what seems, a young age.

Marlene was my cousin. As children we shared many play days together. I remember when she moved to the brick house in Slayton as well as being there with my Grandparents and my family. We lost touch over the years, I am sorry to say.

My condolences to her family.

Ursula, my mother, wanted to send her thoughts and prayers to all of you as well. She prayed for you upon hearing of Marlene's illness and continues to do so during this challenging time in your life. She, at 95, has difficulty writing so I am sending along her condolences as well. She asked me again today about how the family was doing so I know you are on her mind.

Thank you so much for including the obituary in the Slayton paper as well, as I know she will be looking for it. Take good care of each other. All of our love Mayreen
