Mary Gilchrist Obituary

Mary Irene Moeck GILCHRIST Age 89, passed away on May 2, 2011. She was born the eighth of nine children to Ernest and Tula Mae Moeck in Leavenworth, WA on March 7, 1922. She graduated from high school in Leavenworth, attended nursing school in Spokane and then moved to Yakima. She married Fred Gilchrist in 1950 and had three children, Pam, Betsy and Guy. The family lived in Portland, England, Germany and South Africa. She was involved in all her children's activities, was an expert seamstress, knitter and gourmet cook and hostess. She enjoyed travel and the challenges of living abroad yet welcomed a return to the US, where retirement in Sequim, WA and then Bainbridge Island provided new challenges. She spent the last nine years being cared for with immeasurable love and concern at The Hearthstone. She is survived by children, Pam Meyer (Charlie) of Laurel, MD, Betsy Gilchrist (John Clarkson) of Seattle and Guy Gilchrist (Miriam) of Redwood City, CA. Her grandchildren Cathy (Matthew), Theo (Jaci), Brian, Chris and Anna will miss her. The family wishes to thank her friends and caregivers at the Hearthstone for their continuous and loving care. Rest in peace, Mutti. A service will be held Tuesday, May 10th at 10 AM at The Hearthstone chapel at 6720 E Green Lake Way N, Seattle 98103. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Hearthstone Health Center.
