Mary Drew Obituary

Mary Teresa DREW Mary Teresa Drew was born Jan uary 2, 1918 in Seattle, Washing ton to Elmer and Elizabeth Rae Kerr. She lived most of her life on Queen Anne Hill. Mary attended Coe Grade School and Queen Anne High School. She married high school sweetheart and Coastguardsman George Stanley Drew in 1943 midst World War II in Saint Patrick's Cathedral, New York City. They raised five chil dren. Mary was a dedicated long time member of Saint Anne's Parish. This is our mother's legacy: She served God faithfully. Catholi cism was her lifetime commit ment. Her faith was her cross and shield. Annual spiritual retreats were her solace. Mary's devotion to the Blessed Mother was re flected in her daily rosaries and attendance at Mass and a life lived in service. In 1992 she was awarded Volunteer of the Year for the State of Washington. For two decades Mary's volunteer ministry was delivering Holy Communion to elderly Catholics in a local retirement center. For the past 6 years our mother has made her home at Paradise Villa Adult Family Home in Kent, WA where she has been lovingly cared for by a compassionate staff who surrounded her with loving care and spiritual support. Our family is profoundly grateful to Ched and Manny Mercado and Isabelita Alzona. Mary was called home to the Lord on May 30, 2011. Mary is survived by her sister, Kathryn Hasenwinkle of Wash ington, her children; Juliann Ea ton and Patricia Drew of Wash ington, Bill Drew of New York, Mary Anne Drew of Montana and Jim Drew of Minnesota, grand children: Marianna Lavizzo of Michigan, Anita Bennett of Wash ington, Elizabeth Drew of New York, Kendall Drew of Illinois, Therese Drew of Spain and Anthony Drew of Minnesota as well as great grandchildren; Alexis, Brandon and Chase of Is saquah.
