Father Phil was an important part of our children's lives... performing their Baptisms, First Communion, being part of Faith Formation and Mass their entire lives. He was a really fantastic, generous, and loving priest, and our lives have been touched by his gentle spirit, faith and grace. We will miss Father Phil.
Sincerely, The O'Byrne Family

It was such a pleasure to see Fr. Phil whenever he visited Vancouver. I especially remember my visits to Seahurst, leaving my car at his place, while I flew out of Seattle to California.
I also appreciated all the wonderful Christmas cards with such inspiring personal messages, with photos of the Sanctuary of St. Francis of Assisi filled with red poinettias, and most of all, his picture that he enclosed in his last Christmas card.
I was so fortunate to know Fr. Phil through the long friendship with his brother, Bill.
I will always cherish the memories we had together.
He was a wonderful person, and such a fine priest.
Deepest Sympathy to the Wallace family,

I'm so glad I got to meet you in Moncton, New Brunswidk. I went to school with your father in Hillsborough, New Brunswick. And, I knew so well, all of your father's brothers and sisters - the Wallace Family.
From the first time that I met you, I immediately saw the kindness shine from your dear face.
You were certainly a gift from God.
And now, you rest eternally in God's Kingdom.
My sincere sympathy to the Wallace family.

I am so sorry for his Family for the loss of such a wonderful person, Uncle, Brother, and Friend.
Fr. Phil was a gift to our family and made us feel so special; like we were the most important people in the world to him. He touched so many people's lives this way and we feel blessed that we were part of his life.
I met Fr. Phil when my husband and I were married, he presided at our wedding and other family events over the years. I am thankful for his support, prayers, guidance, and love that he so easily gave us. We will miss him but look forward to seeing him again in Heaven with our Creator God.

Phil, we shared time together on promotion as we carried out our mission work by visiting parishes on the weekend to speak of Maryknoll and the missions throughout the world. It was not our intention or choice to stay in the US but God had other plans for us. Now you have fulfilled His work for you on earth. We ask you to continue interceding for us while we are still on the journey awaiting that final reunion at God's appointed time. Thank you for your example, courage, humor, and steadfastness. Father Phil, you have been our friend, teacher, inspiration, trusted counselor, wise one. You walked your "talk" asking us to do the same. Mostly, you just loved all. And how much God must have loved us, to have sent us you. Thank you so much for the gift of your presence in times of both great sadness and of joy.

Phil - you called us to seek justice, but did so with love and humor. You called us to be open to the spirit, but always with our feet planted firmly on the ground. You called us to be proud of the gifts God gave us, but to always remember those gifts are meant to be shared. You opened our lives to the world of mission, witnessed our marriage, baptized our children and helped us bid farewell to loved ones. Thank you Phil - you have blessed our lives and helped us to discover the sacred that unites us all.

Father Phil was a gentle soul with great strength; both qualities offered comfort and leadership to the many communities he touched. I feel fortunate that he married my husband and me and baptized our children at St. Francis of Assisi.

Fr. Phil - You've been a great friend and example since our Seattle U. campus ministry days. You have been so kind and supportive to me and to my extended family. Dear Fr Phil,You came to us in the Hunthausen years--and taught us to let our voices be heard--your Christ-centered theology inspired and challenged us--Thank you for sharing your gifts so well. We so loved your quick and gentle wit!I wrote you poems to express our love and will end with the last verse of the poem I wrote with a heavy heart as you were moved to St Loiuse--"This cannot be a final parting--it's a beginning, a continuum, not an end.-I use the word meaning hello-God be with you-and peace--Shalom Shalom dear friend"--

Father Phil made you feel so special, like God loved you the best. His sermons always spoke to me on whatever I was praying for and missing. He opened the door to great faith in God and what his message is for us. Thank you Fr. Phil for your life well lived. We will miss you at St. Louise Parish, but your legacy will live on.

FatherPhil is a wonderful example of faith in his priestly ministry and in his trusting acceptance of suffering. He did not let his illness stop him from demonstrating in word and action his love for us and for the Lord. May he rest from his labors and may his good works follow him in the joy of eternal life.

My Friend has passed in to God's hands.
For Phil was Family to the world. He picked up his Cross and passed it around.
Phil called me and other members of St. Francis, we meet in the basement for a renewal of our faith or something. Phil anointed our hands and send us on our way. I thought that was strange. Years later it hits you, what Phil was doing. From HIS HANDS TO OUR HANDS, IT'S MY TURN TO SERVE GOD'S FAMILY.
NOW I SAY HELLO TO EVERYONE ON THE STREET, YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE JESUS IS HIDING.
REST IN PEACE PHIL AND PARTY WITH IBAR.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR LOVE AND PEACE.
