Ricci Ahrens Obituary
Ricci Rigotti AHRENS A light went out on April 18th when Ricci Ahrens of Bellevue passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 86 years old. Ricci was a beautiful, elegant, European woman. We will all miss her effervescent, bigger than life personality. Born in Europe, this full blooded Italian made everyone feel like royalty and she will be dearly missed by all. In her early life she lived in Italy and then moved to Germany where she survived over 24 bombings during WW II. In 1949 she met dashing US Air Force Lieutenant George Ahrens and a lifelong love affair was born. Married in Germany in 1951 they lived a military life, entertaining Counts and Countesses, traveling and living all over the world. They lived in Seville, Spain as well as Maine, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona. Eventually they settled in Bellevue in 1967. Ricci endeared everyone she met and became a friend and mentor to all. It was impossible not to love Ricci. From her daughter Kim Ahrens Gunning, to her two beautiful granddaughters, Laura and Morgan to whom she was 'Nona', to her son-in-law whom she affectionately named 'John Boy', to her friends around the world, everyone agreed she was a special woman. Ricci was gracious to all the people she touched in her life and she always let everyone know how special they were to her. Memorable and classic, always dressed to the nines in hats, leopard prints, sunglasses, fashionable suits and gold jewelry, Ricci always made an entrance! She always looked sensational and was one of a kind. It's hard to imagine a world without Ricci but she clearly lives on in her daughter, granddaughters and her courageous husband George. Ricci proudly was a breast cancer survivor. The family suggests remembrances in her honor can be made to Susan G Koman For the Cure Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sammamish on Friday, 8/5/2011.
