Ruby Linsao Obituary

Ruby Roxanne Linsao

Ruby Roxanne Linsao passed away on December 21st, 2015, at 4:37 a.m. after a short, intense battle with a rare, aggressive autoimmune disease (Dermatomyocitis with Interstitial Lung Disease). She passed peacefully surrounded by her father, brother, fiance;, & cousins.

Ruby was born on July 19, 1981, in San Diego, California to Rodolfo and Aida Linsao. As part of a NAVY family, she lived in San Diego, Guam, and eventually moved to Steilacoom, Washington. She attended Saltar's Point Elementary School, Pioneer Middle School, and Steilacoom High School. In addition to being an ASB officer, Ruby was an honor roll student, student leader, and scholastic athlete. She played volleyball and basketball, ran track (won a state gold medal in the 4x100 and 200 meter dash), and served as a member of the cheerleading squad. Ruby continued her education at Western Washington University and eventually transferred to the University of Washington where in 2003 she double majored and earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Sociology.

Ruby was the first Site Manager for Jumpstart in Seattle at the UW and was instrumental in laying a strong foundation for a program that grew under her guidance to include 160 college students reaching over 400 preschool children. This passion for supporting young children at a systems level led to her Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the UW in 2010. While working at Child Care Resources, Ruby was recruited to the Head Start National Center on Quality Teaching and Learning at the UW as a program manager. As an integral member of the leadership team, she greatly influenced the work of that center in supporting better outcomes for preschool children. Over the past five years, Ruby often commented on how grateful she was to be part of that important work.

In her volunteer work Ruby also supported young children as a member of a Seattle Early Education Collaborative Works Group, White Center Early Learning Initiative (WCELI) Community Advisory Committee, and the Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Foundation's (ACLF) Community Leaders Program. She was respected and admired in the early learning community locally and nationally.

Ruby's love, thoughtfulness, humor, and brilliance will be missed forever by her large network of family, friends, and colleagues. She has touched many lives!

Ruby leaves behind the loves of her life - her 20 month old daughter Jasper Jade Luna and fiance; Virgil Domaoan. She is also survived by her father Rodolfo Linsao; brother and sister-in law Paul and Joy Linsao; and nephew Aiden Linsao. Her mother Aida Linsao preceded her in death.

A funeral is scheduled for Monday, December 28th, 2015,

1 pm, at Immaculate Conception Church, 820 18th Avenue, Seattle WA 98122. All are welcome to attend.

I met Ruby nine years ago, when she was a member of the ACLF's Community Leadership Program in 2006 - from the beginning, her kindness and friendly compassionate nature were apparent - we spent six pretty intense months together as a cohort, and Ruby always was so encouraging and supportive towards me and the rest of us. Her encouragement, love and support are some of the signs of a true leader. She hung in with us and our amazing coordinator Negin, despite some stressful moments as we worked on our class project together. And she never boasted about being known nationally and in this region for her work in early learning. My prayers go to her whole family, including her dad, sibling and sister-in-law, fiance and their little daughter, plus the many others whose lives she has touched, praying that the Creator bless all of you in your sorrow. Rest in peace, dear RubyJoyce Yee

Our sincere sympathy to Ruby's family. The Univ of WA Work Study Office worked closely with Ruby when she was involved with the JumpStart Program. She was a genuine human being, and her compassion was evident in her support for educating young children. She had a beautiful smile that lit up a room.

It's heartbreaking to know that she is no longer with us, but the legacy that she left us will always be remembered.

Rest in Peace, Ruby. You will be missed!!

To the family of one of the most honest, kindest, and thoughtful people I every had the chance to coach and be around I'm so sorry for your loss. Ruby was a bright Ray of fun and sunshine in high school, I can remember times at practice where things got intense and serious. Ruby was always the one to lighten the mood with her smile and positive attitude, she was a rare and beautiful gem just like her name. I hope your family gets comfort in knowing that she was loved and respected by so many people, me being at the top of that list. Rest in peace sweet RUBY!!!

Our lovely Ruby... You were a blessing on earth. Always so sweet, kind and beautiful. I will miss hearing you high pitched voice that we would always hear - yes, I loved your voice. Especially when watching our Seahawks at Joy and Paul's and of course your bright smile that lit up when we talked about funny and precious things, like comparing our stories about Jasper Jade and my grandbaby - it was always fun sharing baby girl stories.

I guess you have finally completed your journey on earth. But you have certainly touched so many of hearts and you have mine. You will be deeply missed. May your soul rest in Paradise. We love you. Ramil, Maria, Meng and Dez

Ruby I wish there was another word to describe you. Loving, amazing, and kind wouldn't do you full justice. If I had to choose it would be loyal and unconditional. When a child is young he/she loves everyone and passes no judgement. To a child just having someone to call friend means the world. It was Pioneer middle school. I didn't know many people at the time, but you and Marvin reached out to me. I couldn't help but to think who is this girl? She was in my mind the nicest person I had ever met. But what really made my days was her smile and conversation. We talked all the time probably got in trouble for talking to much but it was worth every second. Although life has happened for us both anytime we would cross paths it was like old times. Ruby you are and were pure, beautiful, loving and kind. Thank you for allowing me the honor to call you friend.

I am sorry for the loss to your family and that beautiful little girl. Almost 5 years ago I was diagnosed with another form of this disease--inclusion body myocitis. I, too, live from day to day. More research needs to be done for this class of disease.
God, give you strength!
