Sonyia Bronson Obituary

Sonyia Marilyn BRONSON Sonyia Marilyn Bronson, 80, a gifted caregiver for others, dies. August 13, 1930 ~ March 1, 2011 Nothing gave more pleasure to Sonyia Marilyn Bronson than homemaking, caring for her family or spending time putting her extraordinary green thumb to work in her garden. Her abundant gift for beautifying her home, her gardens and for lifting the heart of others was an inspiration to all. In her final years, her kindness, gentle nature and appreciation of life's simplest things gave everyone who knew her comfort and joy. She took full delight in the ever-amazing beauty of the Northwest, seeing a smile light up the face of a child, giving a dog or cat a scratch or upon noticing a bright blossom turning towards the sunny sky. For more than 20 years, Sonyia devoted herself fully to the care and ministrations of those dear to her. Through her own mother's decline as a result of heart disease and through the long, painful goodbye during her husband's decline due to Alzheimer's, Sonyia exemplified the rare qualities of a natural and selfless caregiver. Without faltering, however searing the pain and where others tired of the daily demands, Sonyia abided and withstood the heartbreaking, gradual fading of her loved ones at their side. Sonyia was a natural beauty and struck a tall, elegant figure. She met her late husband Percy, a charismatic, talented musician, one magical summer in Lake Louise, Alberta, where he played in the orchestra at the Chateau Lake Louise and she was the head cashier for the grand dining room. They moved from their native Canada in 1952 to follow their dreams and make their life together in the States, where they lived happily as a couple for 51 years. Sonyia is survived by her brother Miles Gibbons (wife Irene), her sister Helen Woods (husband Bill) her children, Paul Bronson (wife Debbie), Rebecca (Bronson) Kerr, Dana Bronson (wife Roxanne), Marc Bronson and her grandchildren, Devin, Nathan and Vanessa. Sonyia died on March 1, 2011 as a result of complications from pneumonia at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. Remembrances in lieu of flowers can be made to the Bethany at Silver Lake in Everett.

Rebecca and family, The last time I saw your mother was at Wesley Gardens Nursing Facility with your father. (He was down the hall from my mother.) That was a difficult time for your mother and all of you, I am sure. She always struck me as a poised, lovely and thoughtful person. Reading her background in the obituary shed a new and enjoyable light on her other strengths and talents.

What a wonderful legacy Mrs. Bronson leaves with her children and grandchildren. I had the pleasure of meeting her a handful of times, and she always struck me as poised, elegant, and graceful. She will be missed! - Angela Carole Brown (Los Angeles)

I remember "Mrs. Bronson" as the very personification of grace who lived next door to my parents. Seeing the picture only reminds me of how beautiful she was when I saw her last.

Dana, Your mother was a beautiful woman....To see this picture of her looking so young only reminds me of my own mother when we were all on the Ted Mack Amature Hour and she was 36 years old at the time. To see them in this light is really a blessing because we as their children never imagine our mothers as so young and beautiful.
May the memories of her in your life all be great one's that inspire you
to be an inspiration to your own family and others around you.
