Toni Davis Obituary

Toni Richardson DAVIS Our beloved mother Toni Davis died March 5, 2011, from complications due to a recent stroke. She was 72. Toni Dale Richardson was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, on January 9, 1939. She graduated in 1960 with her Bachelor's in Journalism. This was also the year she married Jeffery R. Davis, with whom she raised three children. After divorcing him in the late 1980's, Toni went to work for the Federal Government. Toni was preceded in death by her father, Gladwell, her mother, Millicent, her nephews Burl III and Charles, and by her sister Cecile. Toni is survived by her three children Jeff, Mark, and Amy and their partners Heidi, Alisin, and Kim; her granddaughters Dierdre and Danika; cousin Sandra; nephews Michael and John and nieces Sarah and Cheryl; as well as numerous friends and former co-workers. At Mom's request, burial and graveside services have taken place at the Cobb family ranch outside Augusta, Montana. Mom was a lifelong lover of words: a voracious reader, a skilled writer, and an engaging story- teller. She loved books, movies, her grand-cats and grand-dog Chevy, Dim Sum and shrimp, and having lunch with her kids. We will dearly miss Mom's dry wit, sparkling intelligence, and thoughtfulness. Her quiet and dignified presence was balanced by her humor and ferocious love for those closest to her. We are lucky to have known her.
