Veronika Elferts Obituary

Veronika Anna ELFERTS 07/20/1920 to 08/27/2009 Veronika Elferts passed away gracefully at Foss Home in Seattle, WA. after a long battle with cancer. Veronika spent her childhood and school years in Riga, Latvia. WWII separated her family members and they ended up in different parts of the world. Veronika and her husband, Zanis, ultimately made their home in Seattle, WA. The large Elferts household was the center of many lively gatherings. Many of Veronika's children's friends think of her as "2nd Mom". While raising her large family, she returned to school to become a Dental Assistant. She worked at the University of Washington Dental School until she retired. While her health permitted Veronika was an active member of Seattle's Latvian Community. She leaves us with a legacy of love encouraging us to learn all we can, seek positive resolutions and to have faith and love one another. Veronika is deeply missed by children, Julijs (Nancy), Liene (Joe), Art, Kristine (Larry), and Peteris (Anta) and grandchildren, Ilga, John Markus, Sara, Karlis, Justine and Zelma and many relatives and friends. A Celebration of Veronika's life will be held on October 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Latvian Lutheran Church at 11710- 3rd Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125 In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Latvian Lutheran Church to benefit the Latvian Cultural Center.
