Benjamin Emerson Obituary

Benjamin Parsons EMERSON Ben was born in Seattle to Mary Elizabeth and Luther Emerson on March 6, 1913, the third of seven children. After the death of his father in 1922, Ben marveled at the strength of his mother to raise the children with little or no outside help. His love of the theatre began at the University of Washington when he joined the cast of the University Playhouse, and later the Tacoma Little Theatre playing the lead in most of their productions. He was an Account Executive and Station Manager for many radio and television stations in Longview and Tacoma. He was also curator at the Frye Art Museum, but after his retirement at age 61, he concentrated on golf, old movies and travel. Ben passed away on February 15, 2010 at the Hearthstone Retirement Home, where he had resided the last ten years of his life. Ben is survived by one brother, Lewis; daughter, Mary Christine Salo; son Benjamin P. Emerson Jr.; and one grandson. At his request, there will be no services.
